Objective

On completion of the course the student is familiar with the central concepts and laws of kinematics and mechanics and can apply these to simple situations. The student can analyze dynamic situations in terms of force, work and energy. The student is aware of the limitations of the models used.

The student understands the basic concepts of mechanics. The student can solve simple standard problems of kinematics and mechanics.

The student can analyze mechanical dynamic situations in terms of force, work and energy. The student can apply the laws of dynamics in problem solving.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has a clear understanding of the laws of mechanics, can apply these in various situations and has mastered the technical aspects in problem solving.
