Objective

On completion of the course the student knows the most common virtualization techniques and architecture of cloud services. The student will be able to install a OSS based private cloud and use that in application development. He/she knows how to design, implement and test a simple cloud environment and use it as an application platform.

Content

- installing and testing OSS virtualization environment
- installing and configuring Openstack cloud service
- installing Linux in a virtualized environment
- installing and configuring Hadoop in multi-node virtual machines
- application development using Hadoop MapReduce

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can install a OSS based private cloud.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student understands the architecture of cloud services and can design a simple cloud environment.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can design and implement a cloud environment and use it in his/her own application.
