Objective

The student knows after the course the operation and structures of the short message and multimedia messaging systems and different message types used in mobile networks.

Content

The main protocols related to mobile messaging are studied. During the course the structures of different message types and systems are lectured. The voice mail and unified messaging systems and 3G messaging are introduced.

Qualifications

It helps if the student knows the operation of the GSM-network and the TCP/IP protocol.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- The student understands the principles of Short Messaging and Multimedia Messaging services and systems
- Knows the operation of instant messaging
- Knows the basic protocols related to messaging and passed the exam

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- In addition to grade 1 requirements the student understands the structures of messages and the limitations of different messaging systems, SMS, MMS
- He/she knows the main protocols used in mobile messaging

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- In addition to grade 1 and 3 requirements the student has excellent knowledge in the latest messaging technologies and operation of messaging systems
