Objective

After completion of the course the student can use various meters and sensors to collect measurement data.

The student can build simple experimental setups.

The student can analyze and manipulate measurement data and present it as graphs.

The student can make estimations of reliability of measured and calculated data.

The student can present the outcome of an experiment in written form.

A range of experiments covering several of the main topics of the lecture courses.

Methods for analyzing data.

Methods for the estimation of reliability of measured and calculated results.

Presentation of experiments and results in written form.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can use the most common measurement devices.

The student can analyze and manipulate measurement data.

The student can present the results of an experiment as a written report.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can make numerical estimations of the reliability of measured and calculated data.

The student can perform set experiments following written instructions needing little guidance.

The student can write a complete report describing the experiment and the results

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has a clear understanding of the connection between experiment and the relevant physical theory.

The student can perform set experiments practically unaided.

The student can present the experiment and the relevant theory in written form in a fluid, coherent and logical way.
