Objective

After completion of this course the student recognizes the adapted biological, chemical and physical treatment processes. A student knows the substantial equipments and their best application areas. The student understands different water treatment processes and is able to solve the calculation related to them.

After completion of this course the student is able to evaluate efficiency of purification in different water treatment processes. The student knows the basic calculations needed for dimensions.

Content

Biotechnical methods in waste water disposal. Comparison of the water treatment plants. Suspended solids separation from the waste water. Treatment of sludge. Chemical purification methods. Nutrient removal. Anaerobic treatments. Activated sludge process and biofiltration. Flocculation, precipitation and flotation. Adsorption and ion exchange. Drinking water production.
