Objective

Upon completing this course the student will:
- Understand the process of constructing accounts and the accounting system
- Understand the process of preparing final accounts
- Comprehend some of the controversies surrounding accounting principles
- Be able to conduct analysis of final accounts

Students will be able to
- Construct final accounts from the trial balance and adjustments
- Understand the consequences of accounting decisions on financial results
- Analyse final accounts by using ratio analysis and other techniques

Double-entry bookkeeping
Constructing final accounts
Analysis of accounting statements
Relationship of accounting conventions to practice; depreciation of fixed assets
