Objective
Students are familiar with the special features of development during adolescence. They understand the significance of young persons' cultural communities for supporting their individual growth. Students can identify the effects of social and cultural changes in the lives of young people. They are familiar with the main service systems available for young people. They are able to support them in finding their resources and functional abilities in different environments and by different means. Students are able to work to improve young people’s social position and to prevent their exclusion. They are able to comprehend the legislation concerning young people.
Content
Young people in changing society. Youth as a cultural phenomenon, youth cultures. Special challenges of youth and work carried out with young people. The wellbeing of youth. Forms for youth work, social work with youth, new forms of youth work, advisory measures for youth work. Functional and expressive methods used in youth work. Legislation concerning youth (as required), Youth Act, legislation on young offenders.
