Objective

The student
• is able to guide and instruct patients in a client-centric manner in clinical neurophysiology and nuclear medicine examinations and explain the pre-analytical factors associated with the examinations
• is able to explain the significance of these examinations in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases
• learns about the principles of clinical physiological, neurophysiological and nuclear medicine examination methods and devices
• understands the quality management principles when conducting clinical neurophysiological and nuclear medicine examinations
• is familiar with the theory of EEG registration and the most common artifacts in an EEG
• is able to place EEG electrodes according to the 10–20 system
• understands the basics of electroneuromyography (ENMG), evoked potential tests, sensory testing, MEG and transcranial magnetic stimulation
• understands the basics of various sleep examinations and knows the different sleep stages
• complies with the principles of radiation protection and attends to radiation protection at the individual and community level
• has the necessary knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, radiation protection, radiobiology, radiophysics and equipment technology, as well as the use of radiation
• understands the principles of high-quality isotope laboratory working
• is able to work aseptically and knows the principles of cannulation.

• Advanced anatomy and physiology for clinical neurophysiology
• The physics of clinical neurophysiology
• Clinical neurophysiology examinations: EEG (electroencephalography), electroneuromyography (ENMG), evoked potential tests, sleep examinations, sensory testing, MEG and transcranial magnetic stimulation.
• Nuclear medicine examinations
• Legislation of radiation safety, official guidelines, lectures on radiation biology, radiophysics and nuclear medicine techniques and equipment, radiopharmaceutical substances in disease diagnostics and treatment, nuclear medicine imaging
• PET
• Asepsis and cannulation

Qualifications

Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology, Pre-analytics 1 & 2, Methods in Laboratory Work, Physics in Laboratory Work, Mathematics in Laboratory Work.
