Objective

On completion of the course the student will be familiar with the following:
- The contents and systems of building services in a construction project.
- The main parts and common alternatives of the HVAC systems of a building.
- The structure and installation of the air conditioning devices, piping and other service equipment of a building.
- Interpreting HVAC drawings in order to build the systems correctly.
- The structure, parts and installation arrangements of the electrical system of a building.

Content

1. The contents and systems of building services in a construction project.
2. The main parts and common alternatives of the HVAC systems of a building.
3. The structure and installation of the HVAC devices, piping and equipment of a building, such as
- water
- heating
- sewage.
4. The structure and installation of the air conditioning devices, piping and service equipment of a building.
5. Interpreting HVAC drawings in order to install the systems correctly.
6. The structure, parts and installation arrangements of the electrical system of a building, including
- switchboards
- regulations and safety in installation work, safe operation
- getting electricity on a construction site.
7. Interpreting electrical drawings in order to build the electrical system correctly.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can plan the HVACE system of a simple building with guidance.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can plan without problems the HVACE system of a simple building.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can plan the HVACE system of a simple building excellently.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student can plan the HVACE system of a simple building with guidance.
