Objective
The student understands the significance of mixing in the audio production process. The student learns to accomplish technically and artistically balanced mixings for different musical genres and purposes and to take advantage of the computer based studio technology.
Content
Processing the frequency response and dynamics in the mixing process. The basics of ambience processing. Mastering the basic mixing techniques and processors in DAW-based studio. Mixing of a small and mid-size jazz- and rock ensemble.

The student:
• attends lessons
• understands the importance and workflow of the mixing process in popular music production
• knows the basics of equalization, reverb processing and dynamics processing in mixing
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In addition, the student:
• knows how to create mixes with a DAW program for small ensembles for different styles of music
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition, the student:
• knows how to mix larger ensembles, such as big bands
• knows how to combine analog and digital processing in mixing
• knows how to use parallel compression and other more advanced processing techniques in mixing
