Objective

The student will be familiar with the development of different textile techniques from antiquity up to present day and understand their connection to other cultural life of the time. The student will know the essence of textile art and the general picture of the history of textile art and industry. The student will also understand its significance for the future.

Content

The course includes familiarizing oneself with the history of both handmade and industrially produced textiles with the help of illustrations. Subjects of the course include the development and diversity of textile art from antiquity up to present day, the development of different instruments used in textile production, and the history of weaving, dyeing and embroidery.
