Differential and Integral Calculus (3ECTS)

Objective

The student knows the meaning of a derivative function. The student is able to derive and integrate basic functions.

The student is able to use derivative function to find maxima and minima.

The student knows longitude and latitude of the earth and counts areas of the earth. Earth is modelled with a sphere.

Content

Analytic derivation of basic functions and derivation of the product and the quotient. Elementary curve sketching using derivative test. The theory on maxima and minima. Functions with two and three variables and derivation.

The integral function and integration of basic functions. Definite integral with application to find area between two curves. Numerical integration and the areas.
Volumes and surface areas using definite integral. Apply to areas on the earth. Longitude and latitude.
