Objective
Students can explain the transmission and prevention of microbial infections regarding contact lens wearers as well as apply this knowledge to their work. They are able to differentiate the signs of contact lens complications, symptoms and options for treatment. Students know how to use the classification scales in assessing the state of health in the anterior eye, and can identify requisites and impediments to the use of contact lenses based on their preliminary examination. Students can clean and take care of contact lenses, and they know the most common contact lens solutions and their effective substances. Students can choose the suitable lens type, soft or rigid, for their client as well as insert and remove contact lenses. They can assess the fit and suitability of soft contact lenses, and they can give the proper instructions for the client how to use and take care of the lenses.
Content
Aseptic techniques in contact lens fitting, contact lens complications, classification scales, contraindications and indications for use, taking care of contact lenses, selecting and fitting lenses, instructions on use.
