Objective
The objective of the course is to enhance and advance the student’s ability to creative thinking and inspiration; to give insight into the different options and applications of music and rhythm to physical exercise and group exercise for different age groups; to prepare the student for planning and leading musical group exercise, and to demonstrate different ways of expressing rhythm and music in the body and in movement.
After taking the course, the student will
-understand the benefits of music and physical exercise for health and well-being over the different phases of a person’s life cycle
-be able to apply music and physical exercise to chosen target groups
-know the basic principles of planning and implementing group exercise classes
-master different creative approaches to using music, rhythm, and movement
Content
-Introduction to different forms of music-based exercise and the concept of music-based exercise
-Introduction to rhythmics and its functional instruction and application
-Reinforcing the dialogue of the senses, the body and mind by movement, rhythm and music
-Applying music to group exercise instruction
-The power of music, rhythm and movement in the promotion of comprehensive well-being and functional capacity
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.
Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act responsibly as group members.
