Objective

The student is familiar with museology as a discipline. The student understands the goals of museum activity and how museums collect and preserve art, cultural and natural heritage. The student understands how cultural heritage and collections are researched, used and made accessible for all. The student understands how the object-oriented collection activity has developed to the phenomena- and community-oriented activity. The student is familiar with the legislation concerning cultural heritage, cultural heritage organizations and their activities. The student is able to identify risks to collections and cultural heritage. The student understands the meaning of preventive conservation in risk management. The student is able to evaluate the use and environmental circumstances of collections and the consequent risks and knows methods to minimize and prevent these risks. The student understands the meaning of sustainability and is able to apply it in cultural heritage conservation.

The student is familiar with museology as a discipline. The student understands the goals of museum activity and how museums collect and preserve art, cultural and natural heritage. The student understands how cultural heritage and collections are researched, used and made accessible for all. The student knows how the museum collection activity has developed. The student is familiar with the basic legislation concerning cultural heritage, cultural heritage organizations and their activities. The student is able to identify risks to collections and cultural heritage. The student understands the meaning of preventive conservation in risk management. The student is able under supervision to assess the use and environmental circumstances of collections and consequent risks and knows methods to minimize and prevent these risks.

The student understands how cultural heritage and collections are researched, used and made accessible for all. The student understands the role of a conservator as an essential actor in the collection and cultural heritage management. The student is able to identify risks to collections and cultural heritage and create applicable methods and ways to minimize these risks. The student is able to apply her/his knowledge concerning environmental risks and their effect on collections and evaluate needed measures of preventive conservation. The student understands the meaning of sustainability and is able to apply it in cultural heritage conservation.
