Basic Course in PhysicsLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The course will improve the basic ability of the student to study physics and engineering as well as to lend support to the other studies in physics. The purpose of the course is to provide students with various educational backgrounds adequate basics in physics to enable further studies of the subject.

The student will be familiar with and understand the basics of the International System of Units (SI); the student will be able to derive the derived quantities and units connected to the topics of the courses in physics from the basic quantities and units. The student will also learn how the basic problems connected to the topics of the subsequent courses in physics are solved and how the results are given.

Content

SI quantities and units. Basics of trigonometry, vector calculation, solving equations, graphic presentation and giving results needed for the problems in engineering physics. Problems related to the topics of other courses in physics are solved.
