Objective

Yhe student will be familiarized with the fundamentals of real estates terms and understands its speciality. He knows the difference of real and movable property. He knows the possibilities to work with property issues and knows the fundamentals of building regulations. Student will be familiarized with the use of land register. He can formulate a simple real estate deal. Student knows boundary marks.

Content

Fundamentals of land subdivision, the history of land owning in Finland, most important types of subdivisions of real estates, the rights of land owner, public right of access, the fundamentals on land use and building law, the fundamentals of real estate assessment. The fundamentals of real estate business and land register, land in joint ownership

The student is able to describe the cadastral system and knows the core terms.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to describe the cadastral system, knows the core terms and is able to describe the origins of cadastral system on a non-specific level.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to describe the problems concerning public trustability relating to cadastral systems. He or she is able to perform simple real estate assessments. THe student is able to describe the impact of cadastral systems on the usability of real estates. He or she is able to perform simple calculations relating to common land.
