Objective
The student completing this course knows the terminology, methods, machines and equipment of a construction site for a building. The student is acquainted with matters dealing with quality control and work safety.
Content
The main phases of job site production and machinery are covered, as well as setting up the construction management for excavations and foundations. Also, construction methods for wooden, concrete and masonry built in situ frameworks of buildings are taught. Frameworks of steel-reinforced concrete prefabricated elements, roof frameworks and roofing, managing works of building services (HVAC) are included, as well as finishing works and hand-over procedures.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student understands the concept main phases of building production, including excavations, foundations, structures, roof systems and topping out. The student can manage schedules, methods of construction for wood, masonry and concrete structures, and element structures of steel reinforced concrete.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In addition to the requirements above, the student is able to manage and foresee production barriers, adhere to approved and accepted methods of construction and prepare the documents for closing out the job site.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the requirements above, the student has a deep understanding of production methods, knows how to avoid job site conditions that lose time, keep on budget and adhere to good building practices, and observe regulations for recycling of materials, job site safety and reduce environmental hazards like dust, noise and traffic.
