Objective
The student
• knows the basics of sound synthesis and can describe operating principles of synthesizers
• can design and produce specific sounds and effects in a digital audio workstation environment
• can describe the basic principles of sampling, use various samplers, and create their own sample instruments
• can use sound synthesis and sampling creatively in their own music-making
• works in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.
Content
• Fundamentals of sound synthesis
• Synthesizers and their operating principles
• Fundamentals of sampling
• Use and programming of audio workstations, virtual instruments, samplers, plugins, and controllers in creative music-making
Qualifications
The student
• can use a digital audio workstation at a basic level and prepare demo recordings of their own music
• can define the impact of arrangement and orchestration on musical expression
• works according to given assignments and schedules.
