Osaamistavoitteet

After this course the student has a profound understanding of the importance of strategic management. The student is able to analyse factors affecting strategy creation and factors affecting the implementation of strategy within an organisation. The student is also able to describe, discuss and analyse strategic management in his own organisation.

Sisältö

The course provides basic knowledge of strategic planning and strategic management. The course provides different up-to-date approaches on strategic management.

The student
- has some knowledge of the impact of strategic management on the functioning of society and organisations
- has limited skills in applying strategic management in his or her own area of expertise
- understands and knows only the basics of how to use key concepts and basic content of the course
- inadequately justifies his or her personal view, inadequately expresses critical evaluation, reflection and development proposals
- uses only some sources in written learning assignments or in exams

The student
- has a good knowledge of the impact of strategic management on the functioning of society and organisations
- is able to apply strategic management with flexibility in his or her own area of expertise
- understands and knows the basics of how to use key concepts and is able to give examples and to describe the basics of the course clearly and logically
- justifies his or her personal view and critical evaluation, expresses justified reflection and development proposals
- uses several different sources, in written learning assignments or in exams

The student
- has an excellent knowledge of the impact of strategic management on the functioning of society and organisations
- is excellent in applying strategic management with flexibility in his or her own area of expertise
- has an excellent understanding and knowledge of how to use key concepts and is very able to give examples connected to his or her own experiences and to describe the basics of the course clearly and logically
- is excellent in communication; fluent in writing and expressing his or her profound and well justified views
- uses several different sources and is able to combine and apply those innovatively

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The student has the possibility to apply for recognition of prior learning and to receive an approval for accreditation for this course if the student has profound prior studies in strategic management at university level. And/or the student has actively participated in strategy work of his or her organisation with clearly defined responsibilty. A written proof of this work must be presented as an appendix to the RPL application.
