Objective
After this course the student understands the importance and is familiar with the effects of foresight in service production in the social and health care sector. The student is able to analyse factors affecting changes at national and organisational level. The student is also able to analyse the effects of continuous change within the organisation and in managerial work. The student is able to describe the process of strategic management and the foresight approach and is able to apply these in his or her work.
Content
The course provides basic knowledge of strategic planning, foresight and strategic management. The course describes the basis of future studies; principles, methods and applications in different contexts. By a learning assignment, an action map and by studying the changes within the operational environment the student will create scenarios for re-directing the strategy of his or her organisation.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
• has some knowledge of the impact of strategic management with foresight approach on the functioning of society and organisations
• has a limited ability to apply strategic management with foresight approach in his or her own area of expertise
• understands and knows only the basics of how to use key concepts and basic content of the course
• inadequately justifies his or her personal view, inadequately expresses critical evaluation, reflection and development proposals
• uses only some sources
Assessment criteria, good (3)
• has good knowledge of the impact of strategic management with foresight approach on the function-ing of society and organizations
• is able to apply strategic management with foresight approach with flexibility in his or her own area of expertise
• understands and knows the basics of how to use key concepts and basic content of the course
• is able to give examples and to describe the basics of the course clearly and logically
• justifies his or her personal view and critical evaluation, expresses justified reflection and development proposals
• uses several different sources also international
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
• has an excellent knowledge of the impact of strategic management with foresight approach on the functioning of society and organisations
• is able to apply the principles of strategic management with foresight approach with flexibility and insight in his or her area of expertise
• has an excellent understanding and knowledge of the basics of how to use key concepts and basic content of the course
• is able to give examples connected to his or her personal experiences and to describe the basics of the course clearly and logically
• has excellent communication skills; fluent in writing and expressing his or her profound and well-justified views
• uses several different sources, also international, and is able to combine and apply those innovatively
Further information
This course has a multiple approach:
• Pre-assignments, analytic summary of one book (1 ECTS)
• Active participation to lectures and to workshop, 2,0 days (1 ECTS)
• Seminar, 0,5 day (1 ECTS)
• Written learning assignment, individual work, (2 ECTS)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The student has the possibility to apply for recognition of prior learning and to receive an approval for accreditation for this course if the student has prior studies in foresight at university level and/or the student has actively participated in foresight work and strategy work as described in this course. A written proof of this work must be presented as an appendix to the RPL application.
