Information Technology is everywhere in today’s society as it is needed in electronic appliances, computers, household devices, and almost in every part of your everyday life.
The aim of Degree Programme in Information Technology is to provide high quality and up to date education and skills both in core engineering subjects and in chosen specialization option and in individual study paths. The degree provides a solid basis to work as an engineer anywhere in the world and have an international career in various areas of information and communications technologies.
The four-year degree programme educates engineers, who have the knowledge and skills required for a career within the fields of networks, software engineering.
Curriculum of Information Technology Degree programme provides basic knowledge and skills in the structure and operations of software, devices and systems in the field of ICT. Additionally communication skills, team-working abilities and creative problem solving and innovation skills, combined with a solid technical background are the key elements of the curriculum.
A Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology works in various tasks in private sector companies, in the public sector and in project management in Finland and abroad. An engineer works for example in software production, in product development of electronic devices or in marketing, selling, customer service and business-to-business services.

The curriculum was developed to target the needs of working life in the field of ICT both in Finland and internationally.
Further information
Studies in core engineering subjects as mathematics and physics as well as computer science are emphasized. This aims to build a solid theoretical and technological base for professional studies. Additionally courses in languages and professionally orienting courses are offered.
After 1st year of studies the student has adopted the basic competences in the theory of engineering, mathematics and physics to develop further her/his specialization in the field of ICT.
During the 2nd year students orientate themselves further to basic professional studies and fundamental theories which are required in professional specialization.
The 3rd year will begin with a professional training to deepen the engineering skills and to gain experience in practical field of ICT. Training will follow with professional courses in selected specialization option to strengthen knowledge and professional indentity.
The final year of studies provide the final courses in specialization option as well as elective professional courses. The learning process will culminate in the Bachelor’s Thesis.
