Objective

The student knows the principles and philosophy of design thinking. The student knows design theories and methods and can compare them with each other. The student can apply design thinking in their activities. The student can also assess the inadequacies of design thinking.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with the basics of design thinking and knows the differences and similarities between different design theories and methods. The student can demonstrate the role of design thinking in design work. The student has a basic understanding of the criticism towards design thinking. The student knows the basics of design-related facilitation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can analyse the philosophy of design thinking and compare different design theories and methods. The student can apply design thinking in their design work. The student can evaluate the challenges of design thinking and possible future trends. The student can facilitate sub-processes related to design work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can critically and creatively evaluate the philosophy of design thinking and can reflect on the different aspects of design theories and methods. The student can apply design thinking in their design work. The student is able to participate in the discussion about the challenges of design thinking and possible future developments. The student can facilitate and further develop sub-processes related to design work.
