Objective
The students know basic facts of the field of technology in Finland and familiarize themselves with an organization and its functions in the field of their interest. The students recognize and can use important technical concepts. They also become familiar with task areas in the field of technology. Finnish language proficiency level: B1.1 (CEFR).
Content
The course introduces the field of technology as a part of the Finnish society and focuses on important concepts and information search. The students study technical terminology and strengthen their command of essential grammatical structures.

Student has achieved the course objectives fairly. Student is able to identify and use the course subject area’s concepts and understands the conditions of knowledge and skills development.

Student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Student is able to use well the course concepts and to apply his/her knowledge in study and work situations. Student is able to analyze his/her own knowledge and skills.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. Student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and is able to make justified and fluent analysis on course subject area. Students is well prepared to apply his/her knowledge and skills in study and work situations. Student is able to analyze the competencies of the study field and the development of his/her own knowledge and skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assesment scale 0–5. Final grade is based on the assignments completed during the course. Assignments are evaluated on the scale 0-3 points
0 points = to be supplemented, 1 point= pass, 2 points = satisfactory, 3 points = good, 4 points=excellent. The final grade is based on the points earned in the assignments.
In addition to pass the course, a student needs to complete other course work in given time on Moodle and actively take part in on-line learning and on-line discussions and group activities. (= 80 %)
Qualifications
Student has to have at least CEFR B1 in Finnish language.
