Objective
After completing the course, the student is familiar with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, basics of heat transfer and refrigeration technology and he / she will be able to apply and use them in simple surveys and calculations of building services equipment and piping. The student can calculate humid air properties and deal with the basic processes of humid air with h,x-diagram. He / she can explain the operation of the pump and fan, the cooling machine and the heat pump and calculate simple calculations related to them.
The student can apply measurement methods and standards to studying the performance of HEVAC systems and write a report of the measurements.
Content
Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics (8 ECTS): Basic concepts and quantities of thermodynamics. Energy, work and power. Heat flow and heat energy. Ideal gas model. Processes. First and second law of thermodynamics. Carnot cycle. Heat engine. Energy balance. Basic concepts of fluid dynamics. Hydrostatic pressure. Ideal flow. Laminar and Turbulent flow. Pressure losses of pipe flow. Types of heat transfer. Conduction rate equation. Thermodynamics of moist air. Mollier diagram. Pressure-enthalpy drawing. Refrigeration cycle and basic formulas.
