Objective

The student knows the products contained in the treatment combinations and the working methods they require. The student knows the types of coatings and their required pre-treatment and application methods, can analyze the properties of paints and coatings, and choose suitable coatings for environments.
The student knows the design and implementation methods of facade and piping renovation. The student is able to identify the old coatings, know the stages of the condition inspection of buildings, and know how to determine the necessary renovation of the surface treatment work.
He / she is able to manage coating work and to guide, if necessary, employees. The student has the skills to work with different stakeholders in the construction site.

Content

1. The knowledge of coating combinations for buildings
2. Planning of the coating project
3. The work and materials for interior, facade and coatings for piping renovation projects
4. Measurements of coating properties and moisture measurements of construction materials
5. Condition inspection and the renovation methods
6. The building site organization and operations management

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to
1. describe the tasks, problem solving tools and data sources used by professionals in his/her own field
2. explain how projects are managed, and how project tasks connect to each other
3. display learning in the key safety practices in the field
4. work in various duties, describe his/her own contribution to the group’s work and co-operate within the group
5. work with the group and, if necessary, re-organise the work
The project has been completed and its results are reported.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to
1. use concepts and knowledge in his field fluently and comprehensively
2. make a project plan for his/her group and act as group leader or an active member
3. execute the project plan goal-oriented and act independently and responsibly in professional contexts
4. plan operations with safety in mind
5. present orally and in writing the project plans and results of his/her group
The project achieves the targets set to it.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to
1. apply professional information in professional assignments
2. plan and make schedules for a large project that has several sub-tasks
3. plan the quality assurance principles for the whole project
4. organise and manage the operation of a group and project
The project is finalized and reported on time and it achieves or exceeds the targets set to it.
