Objective

The student have the basic knowledge of quality- and environmental management systems including the principles of management requirements, auditing and continual improvement. The student is able to plan, act and evaluate the operation processes as well the content of quality documents.

Content

-The principles of quality thinking, customer orientation and process thinking in quality management
-Third party audit requirements of quality management systems and environmental management systems
-Internal development tools of organizations for continual improvements. Quality verification and accreditation
-Aspect of regular and exceptional emissions, and concept of emission and guide limit values
-Basis of emission calculations and converting
-EU decision making, EU environmental legislation and legislation in national level
-Principles of emission control and monitoring
-Environmental permit system and Environmental Impact Assessment Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Integrated --Pollution Prevention and Control References (IPPC)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands process definitions of organization, continual improvement cycle, customer chain, process thinking and internal audits and importance of feedback.
The student knows environmental aspects, terms of certifications and accreditations.
The student knows the principles of basic emission calculation and unit converting (aspects of limit and guide values).

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can define competence of drawing process flow charts, setting of process goals and understands measurements and process indicators.
The student can define evaluation of emission rate and emission calculations related on different environmental guide and limit values.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows actions towards to process improvements in practice.
The student can evaluate process and environmental protection quality.
The student has knowledge of process, emission and environmental impact monitoring and he/her is able to apply knowledge to practice.
