Objective

The main objective of the course is to enhance mathematical knowledge and skills of the first year’s studies from the point of view of game programming. The student will understand mathematical principles in image formation (—> computer graphics), describing motion and collision of objects, and he or she will be able to apply them on a computer. In addition to these the student will learn fundamentals of logical structures and graph theory.

Content

1) Concepts of matrix and vector with applications
2) Projections in practice
3) 2D and 3D matrix transforms
4) Fundamentals of logic and graph theory

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows and understands the key concepts dealt in the course and knows how to apply them in simple modelling problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to adopt and combine new knowledge and skills required in more demanding applications. He or she knows many practices of the subject.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows thoroughly the contents of the subject dealt in the course with the practical skills needed to perform tasks on a computer. He or she is motivated to use and develop one’s knowledge and skills independently.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student knows and understands the key concepts dealt in the course and knows how to apply them in simple modelling problems.

Qualifications

First year studies (Orientation to information and communication technology) or comparable knowledge.

Further information

The student will apply, what he or she has learned, with a computer.
