Objective

During the course, one or several pre-study or design work for a coating shop or line will be done. A process for manufacturing paint or some other coating product or optimization of the process may also be under study. The project work will include a market study, technical design of the process plant, cost study and making of necessary permit applications to meet requirements of official approval. A maintenance plan and instructions for measurements for maintenance will be done. The parameters for operation and maintenance will be optimized with the principles of experimental design.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to
1. describe the tasks, problem solving tools and data sources used by professionals in the field

4. work in various duties, describe his or her own contribution to the group’s work and co-operate within the group
5. plan the use of his or her own resources and deliver the contributions on schedule

The student is able to
1. use concepts and knowledge of the field fluently and comprehensively
2. make a project plan for his or her group and act as group leader or an active member

4. plan operations with safety in mind
5. describe the principles and results of quality assurance for his or her group’s work
6. present, both orally and in writing, the project plans and results of his or her group.

The student is able to
1. apply professional information in professional assignments
2. plan and make schedules for a large project that has several sub-tasks
3. plan the quality assurance principles for the whole project
4. organize and manage the operation of a group and a project
The project is finalized and reported on time and it achieves or exceeds the targets set to it.
