Objective

On completion of the course the student can at least
- interpret geotechnical calculations
- categorise different methods of field investigation for different sites
- describe and explain the geometry of a street and a road
- dimension the structures for roads
- explain the main points in constructing roads and streets, and explain main components of on-site implementation
- explain how to take the environment and landscape into consideration when planning a road.

3. Basic concepts in traffic engineering
4. Basics of road and street geometry.
5. Dimensioning road structures
6. Consideration of the environment and landscape in highway design (environmental impact assessment).

On completion of the course the student can
- interpret geotechnical calculations
- explain methods of field investigation
- describe and explain the geometry of a street and a road
- explain the dimensioning of road structures
- explain the main points in constructing roads and streets, and explain main components of on-site implementation
- explain how to take the environment and landscape into consideration when planning a road (environmental impact assessment).

Assessment criteria, good (3)

On completion of the course the student can
- analyse geotechnical calculations
- interpret information from different methods of field investigation
- describe and explain the geometry of a street and a road
- modify the dimensioning of road structures
- analyse the main points in constructing roads and streets, and explain main components of on-site implementation
- explain how to take the environment and landscape into consideration when planning a road (environmental impact assessment).
