Objective

On completion of the course, the student will be familiar with his/her studies, with the planning and construction field, and his/her future profession. The student will be able to contribute to his/her own studies and to work effectively according to co-operative principles. The student will be able to estimate the time frame needed for the studies. The student will also be able to estimate the effects of his/her actions. Student will understand the meaning of ethical aspects in both the studies and the profession (professional ethics).

Content

Methods of tudying, learning and evaluation.
Essential office tools (MS Office).
The electronic systems of the university of applied sciences.
Security instructions, labour legislation and essential rules of the university of applied sciences.
Student services.
Library and information services.
Curricula. Individual study plan and Accreditation of prior learning
Employment possibilities.
A visit to a planning office, if possible.
Essential companies, organizations, research institutes, magazines and other sources of knowledge in the field.
Methods to find a job, contracts of employment, contracts of training.
Internationality and international student exchange.
Basics of communication.
Visit to a building site.
Occupational safety card (optional).

Student workload

Obtaining a mark of the course requires 80% participation in classroom instruction and guidance, etc.
Student´s workload is 27 h / ects, which includes contact teaching and independent work of the student.
Studies and the working load of the rehearsals are sized as per the all-time studies.
Obtaining a mark of the course requires that all course assignments are done satisfactorily.
If the course has a preliminary exam, it must be passed before student will start the course.
