Objective

Knowledge base
Students are able to
• describe occupational vision, eye protection and related legislation, recommendations for indoor lighting, recommendations and regulations related to display screen work, and legislation on traffic vision
• seek optometric information in second domestic language from various sources and can convey both verbal and written information.
• The students acquire skills in the second domestic language (Swedish) that are necessary in their professional field, as required by national legislation (352/2003 8§). The students acquire verbal and written language and communication skills that are at least at the B1 level as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Clinical/practical base
Students are able to
• evaluate the lighting and visual load in office and information work
• apply their own special knowledge as an expert in visual ergonomics
• manage custom service with second domestic language (Swedish)

Content

Content:
• vision in the information work – vision load, ergonomics, eye and symptoms and legislation for special spectacles for computer work
• vision requirements for traffic and occupations - driving license regulation, aviation vision requirements
• eye protection – safety glasses, materials and standards
• interior lighting - recommendations and assessment
• use of second domestic language in customer service and communications

Location and time

Visual Ergonomics working in Moodle-platform during the second period of autumn semester 2020.
Swedish: at Myllypuro campus, if possible, teaching during the second period.

Visual Ergonomics: Orientation and Reflection in Teams, working in Moodle-platform
Swedish: work in pairs and small groups, short lectures

Visual Ergonomics Learning Assignments in Moodle, pass/fail.
Swedish: continuous assessment, a spoken language level assessment, written language exam, evaluation scale 1-5
