Objective

Students work in the student clinic practicing the whole process of clinical practice management. Students know the laws and regulations related to clinical practice. Students observe a qualified osteopath at their work and their student colleagues in small groups. Students network and acquaint themselves with the osteopathic profession through worklife co-operation. Students plan and implement marketing and client events. Students work with patients in the student clinic under supervision. Students takes part in planning, implementing and developing the quality of osteopathic practice. Students work in the student clinic office and carry out duties at the reception. They act as members of the work community in an entrepreneurial spirit and assess their own development.

Content

Patient interview and osteopathic evaluation. Observation of student colleagues and small group work. Laws and regulations defining the practice of an osteopath. Clinic handbook. Confidentiality, ethical and collegial conduct, data protection, etiquette and hygiene. CEN-standard of osteopathic healthcare provision. Working at the reception, clinical practice management and marketing. Observing a qualified osteopaths’ consultation. Cooperation skills. Multiprofessional collaboration.

Materials

Student is using all previous courses material; anatomy, physiology, functional anatomy, patophysiology, and so on.

Student can cover absent hours from clinic by observing other groups in HyMy or observing osteopath at work.

The teacher may give additional assignments as a pedagogical solution e.g. to cover for absence.

Assignments and materials may not be used other than in your own studies. The public distribution of these is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

In case the student has received a decision for individual support, which can affect the completion of the study unit, the student should be in touch with the responsible teacher of the study unit directly after the ending of the enrolment period.
