Objective

Students are capable of planning and instructing patient’s safe assistance and transfer that supports patient’s functional ability. Students are able to assess the need
for assistive equipment and choose the most common equipment for mobility and activities of daily
living based on individual needs as well as provide guidance on the use of the equipment.
The purpose of the work placement is to develop students’ professional competence and deepen it systematically as the studies proceed. By demonstrating development of competence, students’ improve their possibilities for more individual selection and planning of their studies.

Ergonomic principles of assisting patients
Practising patient’s assistance and transfer
Most common assistive equipment used in patient transfer
Assessment process for the need of assistive equipment and their selection as well as the different phases of acquisition
Work placement promoting students’ expertise is implemented in authentic learning environments and in close cooperation between the students, the degree programme and the workplace representatives. Students’ work placement is always a goal-oriented, supervised and evaluated activity. Work placements may be implemented in various areas of the social and health care sector. For example, at hospitals and health care centres; research and care facilities; rehabilitation centres and spas; occupational health care; public health, physical education or disability organisations; old people’s homes and day care centres; or at schools and physical exercise institutions.Basics of health exercise in reference to planning, education and guidance; guidance based on the

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base. They also assess and develop their own functioning systematically.
Students act independently and professionally aiming at goals set to them in their operating environment. They also apply working methods flexibly and safely.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.
