Objective

The student
- organizes and implements the oral health care of the elderly together with the elderly, his/her family and nursing personnel
- analyzes the connection between general illnesses and oral health of the patient
- develops with cultural awareness the daily oral health care of the elderly together with the people close to him/her and the nursing personnel
- works in prosthetic oral care team

Further information

Compulsory attendance at the orientation lectures (Information including to the practice evaluation criteria in teatchingclinic and elderly care units is given in orientation).
The student will present possible RPL decisions in the orientation lecture.
Earlier clinical studies in teaching clinic and in skills lab must be accomplished.
Approved course requires active presence and attendance in all parts of the course.
Students responsibility is to take care of her/his own accomplishments and replace the absence from the clinical training.
To accelerate the studies, you need a grade H3 for the previous courses.
Clinical practice in the Metropolia's Wellbeing and Health Village takes place in pairs, but students treat teachingclients individually.
Theoretical framework in this course is family care/ communal health promotion.
The student confirms his/her participation in the course by being present at the beginning of the first lesson or by agreeing on it with the teacher in other ways.
