Objective
Students
- know how to plan, implement, evaluate and develop acute care of patients in different age groups in diverse operating environments

Location and time
Opetus toteutetaan pääsääntöisesti perioperatiivisen hoitotyön osalta Mannerheimintien kiinteistössä (laboraatiot ja simulaatiot). Myös Myllypuron kampuksella on opetusta. Päivystys- ja tehohoidon opetus toteutetaan pääsääntöisesti Myllypuron kiinteistössä. Ensisijaisesti pyritään välttämään siirtymisiä päivän aikana.
Materials
The course literature will be refined during the course. Students can use the material they choose according to the subject of the course. The e-learning environment is Moodle, where students are guided through the course orientation. Moodle contains the objectives and contents of the study unit's (perioperative, emergency and intensive care), more detailed literature and other material demonstrated by the teacher. In addition, Moodle platform has exercises for theoretical instruction, independent exercises and exams, additional material on topics, etc.
NOTE: The Moodle platform for emergency- and ICU-nursing and the Moodle platform for perioperative nursing are on a stand-by basis.

Expert lectures during the theoretical instruction during the course. After the theoretical instruction, the students complete the Development of Nurse Expertise - Clinical Practice (15 ECTS credits).

The time of the clinical nursing competence examination (emergency and ICU) belonging to the course is shown in the course unit's reading order.

No optional methods. Education is an obligation of attendance.
Student workload
The scope of the course is 15 op. This is for the student 405 hours of work. Approximately 200 hours of nearby teaching. Self-study guidance is given by orientation. Independent studies account for approximately 200 hours.
The course is scheduled so that the first part is the perioperative nursing and then emergency and intensive care. Self-study includes pre-teaching proficiency, independent online courses, and exam preparation.

Further information
This is an advanced course in Degree Program Nursing. It is for the last academic year. Completion of the course requires basic studies and basic exercises. Development of Nurse Expertise - Clinical Practice can not be started until all basic exercises have been successfully completed.
Part of theoretical instruction is an obligation of attendance. Absence for a valid reason and reimbursement practices will be negotiated with the tutor implementing the implementation.
