Objective

Students can assess diverse work environments and apply their knowledge when optimizing visual work environments by making them more effective and comfortable. They can describe the optical components and protective properties of occupational spectacles and can prescribe and fit eyeglasses, taking into account the ergonomic factors in the work environment.

Content

Legislation on visual ergonomics. Vision requirements for various professional groups, legislation on driving licences, significance of leisure activities to prescribing spectacles, criteria and legislation regarding compensation for occupational spectacles, standards for eye protectors. Instruction and guidance in work communities regarding vision ergonomics. Consulting as an occupational health and safety expert and cooperating in multiprofessional promotion of occupational vision. Assessing vision ergonomics in the work community. Basics of perceptual ergonomics, assessment of workload and utilising ergonomics to create an optimal workload. Ergonomics in the optical profession. Assessment of occupational visual strain with various measures and methods as well as limiting visual strain. The significance of lighting at work stations in the workplace.

Further information

Opetus toteutuu verkko-opetuskertojen ja Moodle-verkkototeutuksen yhdistelmänä. Opintojakson hyväksyttyyn suoritukseen vaaditaan osallistuminen kahteen pakolliseen verkko-opetuskertaan (7.4. klo 12.30-15.45 ja 20.5.2020 klo 9.00-12.00) ja neljän oppimistehtävän hyväksytty suoritus. Lisäksi viides oppimistehtävä on numeerisesti (1-5) arvioitava tuotos.
