Objective

Students
- are familiar with the main processes of occupational health care and can implement them to meet the needs of changing working life
- can apply regulations on occupational health care and strategic programmes
- follow the practices of good occupational health care and ethical guidelines
- can evaluate resources related to work, working conditions, employees and unfavourable, burdening factors as well as make suggestions on improving or removing the harmful factors and developing work
- can carry out health examinations and tests on exposure to external agents and work ability
- can implement nursing in occupational health care
- are familiar with the central work-related illnesses and occupational diseases and can evaluate their significance to employee’s health, work ability and functional capacity
- are able to utilize multiprofessionalism and multiple expertise in work groups and networks in occupational health cooperation
- can justify their actions based on evidence and evaluate the effectiveness of occupational health care in cooperation with other professionals and experts.

Content

Service system and main processes of occupational health care
Legislation on occupational health care, strategies and compensation practices
Ethical principles on good occupational health care practices and occupational health care
Evaluation of health-related circumstances in the workplace, factors affecting occupational health care, factors maintaining welfare in work environments and communities, unfavourable exposure to external agents, risk factors/dangerous situations
Health promotion of work environment and work community, follow-up and evaluation of welfare at work in collaboration with other actors, workplace surveys, risk evaluation, action plan in occupational health care
Health examinations of employees in different phases of their career
Young employees, unemployed, partially disabled employees
Central work-related illnesses and occupational diseases
Early intervention on work ability; functional models of early intervention; work ability negotiations, rehabilitation paths
Providing information, consultation and training
Occupational health care with focus on non-institutional health care
Work psychology
Medical studies: occupational medicine/ occupational diseases
