Objective

Students will become familiar with the central principles of clinical microbiology and know how to employ aseptic techniques. Students will become aware of key pathophysiological changes in the human body and their impact on the elderly. They will also recognise the most common geriatric diseases and be able to assess their impact on functional capacity and wellbeing in the elderly. Students will become familiar with the significance of long-term illnesses on public health.

Content

Basics of clinical microbiology, aseptic techniques and pathophysiology. Basics of geriatrics, psychogeriatrics and general medicine. Memory-related illnesses and common illnesses of the elderly.
