Objective

They are aware of the most common risk factors and prevention of illnesses as well as options for care of the elderly. Students are familiar with the underlying physical and mental factors of the illnesses of the
ageing population affecting their functional ability and know how to acknowledge these factors as part of the planning and implementation of physiotherapy. Students are aware of the changes occurring in the body because of ageing and the link between
these changes and functional ability. In the assessment of functional ability, students are able to
utilise and apply the assessment methods and measurement of functional ability. Based on the assessment of functional ability, students are able to draw conclusionsn and plan physiotherapy to promote the functional ability of the elderly.
Students are familiar with the phases of children’s psychomotor development and know the most
common developmental disorders of children and youth. They recognise the significance of family
and environment for the functional ability of children and youth of various ages. Students know the
most common assessment methods on functional ability concerning children and youth based on the
ICF model and its different areas as well as can apply at least one method to practice.

Students work according to professional ethics as well as commit themselves to the group, enhancing its functioning.

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base. They also assess and develop their own functioning systematically.
Students act independently and professionally aiming at goals set to them in their operating environment. They also apply working methods flexibly and safely.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base, in changing environments. They also assess their own functioning and produce knowledge to develop their operating environment.
Students act independently and professionally and develop their working and operating environments together with other actors.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of complex and unpredictable situations. Their work develops and renews professional procedures and practices.
