Objective
Students are familiar with the amputations of foot, hip and upper limb, and the underlying causes for them as well as the prosthetic solutions for them. Students understand the levels of amputations in reference to functional capacity and are able to use them in the fabrication process of prostheses. Students know how to plan applied prosthetic solutions. Based on the planning, students can measure and fabricate the prosthesis under supervision. Students apply their knowledge of materials to the fabrication process. They can instruct clients on the use of prostheses and evaluate their fittingness to the client.
Content
•Foot amputations.
•Hip disarticulation.
•Upper limb amputations.
•Structure of prosthesis.
•Assessment and measurements.
•Fabrication process and various technical solutions (as applicable).
•Fitting the prosthesis.
•Evaluation and instructions on use.
