Objective

Students utilize their previously acquired knowledge on neurological musculoskeletal diseases and the functional restrictions they cause. Students describe the use of individually fabricated foot and ankle orthoses. Students interview, assess and analyze the client’s need for orthosis under supervision.
Students learn to measure orthoses individually and manage the fabrication process of foot and ankle orthoses. Students learn to fit the product as well as provide education and instruction on the use of the orthosis to the client. Students compare the functional starting point with the end-product from professional viewpoints. Students familiarize themselves with a variety of illnesses and injuries resulting in the need for an orthosis. Students describe the use of ready-made lower limb orthoses and are able to justify their selection process. Students deepen their competence in the assessment of client’s needs and requirements for an orthosis. To find out the client needs, students interview, assess and analyze the client. Students are familiar with the most significant actors in the field and their range of products. Students learn to fit the product and provide education and instruction on its use. Students compare the functional starting point of the product with the end-product from professional viewpoints.
