Objective

The student
- applies advanced level knowledge of palliative nursing to the planning, implementation and assessment of the care.

Content

- Patient groups and their special care needs in palliative and end of life care
- Symptom relief treatment, monitoring and assessment of care, evaluation of effectiveness of care and care plan update (treatment of most common symptoms such as pain, invasive special techniques, emergency situations)
- Systematic implementation of palliative care and nursing (drug therapies and non-pharmacological therapies)
- Systematic implementation of end of life care
- Pharmacology and applied pharmacology in palliative care
- The role of consultant and coordinating nurse in palliative and end of life care

Groups of patients treated in palliative or convalescent care and their special needs

-> Expert lectures (lecture recordings): patient groups and special features in palliative and convalescent care (cancer patient, COPD, Cardiac vj, ALS), symptomatic treatment (pain, special techniques, emergency care and treatment), comprehensive health assessment , proactive treatment plan, symptom monitoring (ESAS, etc.), patients of different ages and their relatives (children speaking), special features of medication in palliative and convalescent care -> a separate lecture set made of these, will be available periodically

Tasks

Consulting and coordination including task -> Expert lecture and online discussion

Study of the work: a) patient screen with core health assessment, evidence-based clinical decision making, treatment planning and evaluation (assessment 0-5), b) planned visit / benchmarking to palliative care units (HYL-HKS).

Case seminar either in contact teaching or as a webinar according to the choice of the university of applied sciences. (Three patient cases involving multi-professional dissolution)
