Objective

The student is able to act as a member of an ensemble. The student knows different jazz genres and perceives their role in an ensemble as both accompanist and soloist. The student is able to play/sing traditional jazz repertoire of different periods by heart. The student is capable of taking on the responsibilities related to working in a group. The student develops their interaction skills and can reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both verbally and in writing. The student is able to produce and interpret musical notation and knows the basics of jazz improvisation.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to receive an approved grade, the student:
- Has completed the set assignments according to schedule
- Is able to work independently in practicing the repertoire
- Has learned the performed repertoire to a satisfactory level, for example is able to perform it from memory, if necessary
- Is able to act as part of an ensemble and communicate their own musical views
- Is able to use the means of expression typical of their instrument and typical of the selected repertoire
- Can perform and communicate with the ensemble and the audience
- Understands their role in an ensemble and can communicate their own musical views.
