Objective
The student is able to act as a member of an ensemble and gains experience in practical collaboration and in professional-level rehearsing and performing situations. The student is able to play or sing different styles of jazz music and his own role in different ensemble combinations as an accompanist and as a soloist. The student is able to play the basic repertoire of jazz music from different eras by heart. The student is able to be a responsible member of a group.
The student develops their interaction skills and is able to reflect on their own and other students’ work and to express themselves verbally and in writing. The student is able to read and write music notation and knows the basics of jazz improvisation.

In order to get an approved grade, the student
- has participated in lessons as agreed
- has performed the given exercises and tasks according to the agreed schedule
- is able to work independently in repertoire practicing
- has learned to perform the repertoire well enough, for example, they can perform it by heart
- is able to act as a part of the ensemble and to communicate their own musical views
- is able to use ways of expression characteristic of their instrument and the selected repertoire
- can perform and communicate with the ensemble and the audience
- understands their role in the band and can communicate their own musical views
