Objective

The student acquaints themselves with works of songwriters and composers of different eras and styles. The student understands how music and its elements are perceived and is able to analyze the musical content of the works and place them into historical and stylistic context. The student becomes familiar with the recording, mixing and production techniques of different eras by performing production exercises using reverse engineering techniques.

Location and time

Lectures and seminar work on Fridays at 9:00–12:15. Reproduction and pastiche sessions in the studio according to a separate schedule (TBA). The schedule and the locations for the whole course period is to be confirmed in the beginning of the course.
The course begins on Friday, 10 September, 2021 at 9:00. Last day of tuition is Friday, 10 December.
Plus common seminar for all on Wednesdays at 13.00-14.30, room AS522 / Klubi / studio.

- Completing and submitting the given exercises and assignments according to the agreed schedule
- Planning and implementation of two production exercises and presenting them in the joint seminar of Music Writing and Production.
