Objective

The student is able to implement and manage multidisciplinary projects in different working life settings by applying creative activities and arts, in a co-creative way. The student is able to work in a constructive and reformative manner in relevant networks. They are able to identify and expand their networks in the use of creativity and arts to promote well-being, and utilise the results of previous development work in their own projects. The student is able to understand the essence needed in managing the practices, methods and solutions related to the use of creativity and arts to promote well-being, as well as critically reflect on them in a research-based manner.

In the individual development project, the student is able to construct a culture based on compassion and dialogical interaction in multidisciplinary operational environments. The student is able to operate in an ethical way, with respect to the experiences of others, and understands different contexts. The student is able to contribute to the promotion of accessibility and equality of creative activities. The student is able to utilise digitality and versatile communication and documentation methods in their development work.

Location and time

Orientation to the course takes place 14 January at 9-10 (online).
The co-creation projects are implemented between mid February and early May.
The presentations of the co-creation projects takes place 13 May at 9-12 (Myllypuro campus).

A more detailed teaching and counselling schedule will be shared in Moodle in January 2022.

Teaching methods

The course consists of the planning, implementing and evaluating of a small multidisciplinary project, which applies creative activities and arts, in a co-creative way to promote cultural wellbeing of some client group.

The course relies strongly on structured, independent familiarization with topics related with the co-creation project, conducting an independent group work as well as peer support. Orientation, assignments and online counselling are provided by the teachers.

Employer connections

Each project is carried out in a close collaboration with labour market partners. The partners may consist for example of current or potential future employers of students as well as Metropolia research and development projects. Students are encouraged to find their labour market partners independently (support is available).

Exam schedules

There is no exam. The co-creation project presentations are made 13 May and evaluative report returned at the latest 20 May 2022.

International connections

During the course, students are welcome to share their international project work experiences. The co-creation projects may have international elements as well.

Student workload

Throughout the course students are given material and small assignments in Moodle. The independent co-creation projects are implemented between mid February and early May.

They are able to utilise the results of previous development work and evidence-based data in their own projects. They are able to understand practices, methods and solutions related to the use of creativity and arts to promote well-being, and is able to utilise them in the planning, implementation and management of their own projects. In the individual development project, the students are able to operate in an ethical way, with respect to the experiences of others. The students are able to utilise digitality and versatile communication and documentation methods in their development work. They are able to create, in multidisciplinary interaction, new solutions to foster the use of creativity, culture and arts to promote the well-being and health of individuals and communities.
