Health and health promotion are current themes in the discussion of social and health policy issues worldwide, and the same applies to Europe and Finland. The government resolution on the 'Health 2015' public health programme outlines the targets for Finland's national health policy.
Promotion of health and well-being of population is a broad, developing and multidisciplinary field, and its focus changes according to the social needs. Health promotion may be viewed from the perspective of an individual, community and society as well as from the perspective of promotion and prevention.
