The curriculum has been planned so that the student completes 60 ECTS credits per academic year and 30 ECTS credits per semester

Due to the timing of optional and elective courses, credit accumulation per semester / academic year may vary.


The programme will develop an excellent knowledge of environmental engineering and environmental management. Specialization studies are focused on Renewable Energy Engineering and Water resource Management. As an Environmental Engineer student will have responsibility for overall management of environmental issues, with the skills to operate and communicate internationally and coordinate international environmental engineering projects.

The engineer is able to:
Fulfil license-bound duties of process plants, which include among others
ordering obligatory measuring services and submitting retrieved samples for analysis
estimating the compliance of waste flows (air, water, solids) with set limit values
estimating whether appropriate measures are being taken in the safe disposal of waste (flue gas and waste water treatment systems, landfilling of solid waste)
adapting plant processes to changes in legislation and other guidelines
constructing waste management, water supply and energy management plans for larger bodies or supply chains according to the principles of sustainable development
understanding different monitoring and analysis methods for contaminants (soil, water and air samples)
environmental risk management
Work in research facilities/departments with
basic sample collection and analysis
statistical analysis of research data
life cycle and carbon footprint analysis (LCA and CFP)
Work in an international project environment with
project management
profitability (especially energy balance) calculations
co-operation skills in an international project team
specialisation in either water resource management or distributed renewable energy management
