Objective
The purpose of the course is to give basic information of chemical safety and different chemical rules in the occupational and process environment. The aim is to focus process and occupational safety technology and its risk assessment. Students learn to recognize and analyze occupational, process and environmental risks. Further, students are familiar with the protection and elimination techniques of risk assessments. Students learn also the importance of motivation and training culture of personnel.
Content
Legislation related to chemicals, REACH, GHS directive, occupational safety and process safety. Risk definitions, risk evaluation and risk management. Direct and secondary risks and risk analysis. Occupational risks: toxic compounds, hazardous known concentrations, ignition and ignition sources, explosives, ATEX classifications, radiation, pressure, temperature and noise. Hazop and other tools in risk assessment, practical exercise in process risk assessment and management. Personnel motivation and training.
Exercise of chemical inventory and project work of process safety.

The student knows the hazardous and classification properties of chemicals. The student is able to recognize different process risks and knows how to manage those.

The student understands the hazardous and classification properties of chemicals and can adapt paractical work procedures accordingly. The student is able to recognize different process risks and knows how to manage those.
